Sixty-five more persons tested positive for the influenza A H1N1 (swine flu) in Delhi on Friday. The total number of persons affected with the viral infection has now reached 680. This is the highest number of cases reported in a single day this season.

Eleven persons have so far succumbed to the disease, of which 10 died in February.
There has been a spurt in cases of swine flu across the country this year. Health experts have blamed it on the prolonged winter season and sudden rain that brought the temperature down considerably.
“Once the weather clears and it becomes warmer, the disease will die out like any other seasonal flu,” said a Delhi health official.
In 2012, only 78 swine flu cases and one death were reported in the Capital.
According to the Delhi government, 17 government and five private hospitals are currently treating swine flu patients in the city.
