A 71-year-old retired physical education teacher was found strangled in his Ramesh Nagar residence in west Delhi on Wednesday morning. The incident was reported around 7am and the deceased was identified as Vilayat Chand Setiya.

According to the police, Setiya was to sign over his property to his two daughters on Thursday. There is a possibility that a family member was unhappy with the decision.
Though the victim’s house had been ransacked, only cash worth Rs 3,000 was missing. His phone and watch too were intact which gives credence to the theory of insider involvement, police said.
“The entry into the house was friendly. It appears that the murderers had searched for some documents, but in vain,” a senior officer said.
V Renganathan, additional commissioner of police (west) said that Setiya’s body was discovered by his elder son-in-law Rajesh Sodhi. A case of murder has been registered.
