To provide a pollution-free ambience and a chance for factory workers to witness the Commonwealth Games, Delhi's Mayor Kanwar Sain is planning to request industrial units in the city to suspend work for a month for the 2010 Games.

“The hosting of Commonwealth Games in the city is a matter of great pride for each and every Delhiite. So we have made the request to Delhi Government keeping this in mind,” said Sain.
The mayor said those who agree to suspend their activities for a month should be given tax rebate by the Delhi government too.
“As for compensating the workers for missing work and wages, we have suggested that they be allowed to work longer hours after the Games so that they can make up for the monetary loss through overtime pay scales,” he said. “Moreover, we have also suggested that they be given rebates in their electricity and water bills.”
