Aarushi case: CBI may not oppose case transfer

On Friday, the Supreme Court (SC) had sought CBI's reply within two weeks over the transfer petition filed by the Talwars to shift the case to a Delhi court.

Talwars had raised security concerns at the Ghaziabad court during hearings. Also, in their petition they claimed that most of the witnesses in the case were based at Delhi.

However, Talwars counsel Satish Tamta confirmed that that there were no such request made for security concerns by them to the Ghaziabad police. On the other hand, the CBI on February 2, requested the Ghaziabad SSP to provide a substantial security cover during the hearings.

On 25 January, 2011, Dr Rajesh Talwar was attacked by Utsav Sharma inside the Ghaziabad Court complex during a hearing day. Sharma was nabbed soon after the attack but his parents stated that he was suffering from bipolar disorders.

However, the much-awaited trial in the double murder case which was set to begin on Saturday at a CBI court in Ghaziabad was again delayed on Saturday. The court adjourned the hearing till February 29 after the counsels of Dr Rajesh Talwar and

Dr Nupur Talwar made a request for adjournment, stating that the Supreme Court was hearing their plea for the transfer of case from Ghaziabad to Delhi.
