Alert conductor helps nab robber on Blueline

A driver and conductor of a Blueline bus on Thursday showed their presence of mind and managed to pin down one of the seven robbers who had boarded their bus.

Police said four men boarded the bus, which plies on route number 761, at Keshavpuram depot. Next, three men boarded the bus near Mangolpuri flyover. They were members of the same gang.

When the bus conductor, identified as Bittoo Singh (31), asked one of the men for a ticket, he reportedly flashed a knife. Three men then suddenly walked towards driver Anil Kumar and held him at knifepoint and asked him to keep driving.
The robbers tried to rob the passengers in the bus near Peeragarhi in west Delhi.

But the bus conductor showed his presence of mind and pinned down one of the robbers. The remaining robbers fled after they saw their accomplice on the floor of the bus.

A senior police officer said, "Singh caught hold of one of the robbers and snatched the knife from his hands. The driver also applied sudden brakes and the alleged robber fell."

"Some of the passengers caught hold of the robber and started beating him. Seeing this, the other accused got off the bus and fled."

Police said there were more than 50 passengers in the bus.

One of the passengers called the police control room (PCR) when the bus neared Behra Enclave in Paschim Vihar.

The robber, identified as Luv Kush (22) was taken into custody. Before that he was taken to a hospital for first aid.
Police said Kush has earlier been arrested for theft.

A case has been registered.
