Amar allowed to go abroad for treatment

A Delhi court on Thursday allowed former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh to visit Singapore for the treatment of his kidney infection from November 8-30.

A Delhi court Thursday allowed cash-for-votes scam accused and Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh to go abroad for treatment of his kidney ailment.

Special judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal allowed Singh to go to Singapore from November 8-30, stipulating that he would have to furnish a surety bond of R5 lakh before leaving.

Singh said in his application that he had been undergoing treatment at a Singapore hospital following his kidney transplant and that he needed to go there for regular check-ups.

Singh, who was undergoing treatment under judicial custody at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, was granted bail by the Delhi high court on October 24 on “humanitarian grounds” in view of his "critical" condition.
