The case under Section 188 of CrPC was registered against Arvind Gaur, Swati, Neeraj and Sanjay Tomar at Connaught Place police station on Tuesday, alleging that around 125 protesters led by them refused to disperse despite instructions.

The supporters of Hazare-led India Against Corruption (IAC) had gathered at Connaught Place as part of their agitation to drum up support for a strong Lokpal law.

According to police, a group of around 100-125 people had gathered in front of the main gate of Central Park in Connaught Place around 4:45pm carrying placards and shouting slogans against the government.

Police said they had violated the prohibitory orders imposed in the area under Section 144 of CrPC and despite repeated warnings, the group refused to disperse. The protest also led to traffic jam in the Inner Circle of Connaught Place.

They also shouted slogans against the government. “The protesters also told us that they will continue their protest till 6:30pm and that we were free to do whatever we wanted to. We did not use any force to disperse the crowd so that it does not lead to any law and order situation,” the officer added.
