NEW DELHI: Delhi Police on Friday arrested a Nigerian woman for allegedly assaulting the driver of an app-based taxi, along with five others, in Rajpur Khurd in South Delhi on May 30.

The police said the accused had been identified as Janet, 26. The first accused in the case, woman of Rwandan origin, Kefa, was arrested on the day the incident was reported.

According to the police, the remaining four accused had also been identified and efforts were being made to arrest them. “Background checks on both the women are being conducted and the investigation to arrest the other accused is under way.

“Preliminary inquiry suggests that both, Janet and Kefa, were allegedly living in India on expired visas. While Kefa was arrested once in Bangalore last year, records pertaining to Janet are being checked,” said a high ranking police official.

Officials said Janet and Kefa had booked 51-year-old Nooruddin’s cab through Ola app for Dwarka. They beat him up when he refused to allow six persons on board.
