A Major General from the Army Ordnance Corps (AOC) has been found guilty of misappropriation in purchases for UN peacekeeping missions by a Court of Inquiry (CoI).

A CoI has held Maj Gen Anand Swaroop, officiating Commandant of the School for Materials Management, Jabalpur blameworthy of the misappropriation, army sources.
"A CoI headed by Director General Information Systems Lt Gen P C Katoch found held Maj Gen Swaroop blameworthy of financial bungling in the purchase items such as clothing, accessories, generator sets and associated equipment for a unit going for overseas deployment on a United Nations mission in 2007," Army sources said in New Delhi.
The CoI found that prices of items procured under Maj Gen Swaroop were heavily inflated, they in New Delhi.
The CoI has forwarded its findings to the Western Army Commander-in-Chief Lt Gen T K Sapru.
The inquiry in the case was initiated on the directions of the Western Army Commander and had assembled in New Delhi, sources said.
