Criticising CM Sheila Dikshit for talking about phasing out autos from Delhi roads, leader of the opposition V.K. Malhotra said she should be careful with her statements in the House.

“They have done no planning about this (phasing out autos). They have been talking about phasing out blueline buses, which has not happened in past 11 years. The CM is now talking about phasing out autos, which is not possible,” Malhotra said. “She speaks with her foot in her mouth.”
On Wednesday, Dikshit had said in the assembly that the government was mulling phasing out autos. She later clarified that “autos would be phased out after the government finds an alternative to them.”
“Auto-rickshaws are the only conveyance for the middle class. Phasing them out is not a solution. The government should find ways to control autos violating rules and regulations,” Malhotra said.
Taking a dig at the chief minister’s statement that the government wants to introduce electricity-powered vehicles, Malhotra said nowhere in the world do such vehicles run. “She should think before making such statements,” he said.
