"There have been a lot of negative publicity which needs to be avoided. People should not keep finding faults and criticizing, instead they should support the administration to make the event successful," Sandeep, son of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, told PTI.

He said there is good work, which needs to be projected and properly reported by the media.

Sandeep, who represents East Delhi constituency in Lok Sabha, said, "Everyday I interact with the players, team officials and international delegates.

"They are all happy about it. The facilities such as transportation, practice arenas and foods are of excellent quality."

The legislator also expressed his unhappiness on media reports highlighting filthiness in the residential complexes meant for athletes and their support staff at the Games Village.

"It is really painful. I am spending almost all day at the Village here and monitoring each and every work. There were some minor works left in some of the blocks, which are being completed. To say that all houses are bad will not be right," he said.

About 6,500 athletes from over 70 countries are living at the Village to participate in the 12-day sporting extravaganza beginning from tomorrow.

"Despite so-called criticism, Games will be successful," a confident Sandeep said.

Delhi Chief Minister and other senior officials from Central and State government are continuously monitoring the facilities at the Village and other competition venues.

Commonwealth Games Village Mayor, Dalbir Singh has also echoed the same views.

"Excellent arrangements have been made by authorities here. The government is ensuring that athletes face no problem during their stay at the Village. They are happy," Singh said.

"There are world-class training venues for athletes to practice. All basic amenities are well taken care of. I have interacted with so many athletes and met chefs de mission of international teams and their staff. Nobody is complaining," he added.
