“Coalition dharma cannot mean support to corruption. And coalition is related only to 2G. What is the relation between coalition and the ISRO case (S-band allocation), CWG and Adarsh cases?” said BJP president Nitin Gadkari.

Gadkari added that to say that the BJP was attacking the government because of action against a Gujarat minister (Amit Shah) was “laughable”.

“I feel the PM has failed to take action against corruption,” Gadkari said. “It is laughable that he has compared 2 G spectrum pricing to subsidies given on fertilisers and kerosene… In a way, an effort has been made to cover up the corruption.”

“On two vital issues, that is corruption and price rise, the PM has virtually thrown up his hands saying nothing much can be done,” CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury said.

CPI National Secretary D Raja also attacked the PM for seeking to “explain” the 2G scam by asking if subsidies on foodgrains could be called a loss.

The BJP and the Left also attacked the PM over the government’s “failure” to constitute a JPC during the winter session of Parliament. “Why did you not agree to it (JPC) earlier? If you are ready to appear in front of any committee... that you are agreeing to now... Had you done this earlier this situation would not have arisen,” Gadkari said.
