Arguments for the Best-5 policy will continue for at least another day in the Supreme Court, further delaying junior college admissions.

The court asked why the Maharashtra government discriminates among ICSE students during junior college admissions.

The query came from a bench headed by Justice VS Sirpurkar after the state said it calculates the percentage of ICSE students based on all seven subjects. But if a student fails in one subject, the percentage is based on six subjects and if a student fails in two subjects, the percentage is based on five subjects.
“This puts a student who clears all seven subjects at a disadvantage,” the court told senior counsel Harish Salve, appearing for the SSC board.
