Bikers rob France woman, fourth such case in Feb

This is the fourth such incident this month, in which women visitors from foreign countries are targeted by biker gangs.

Last week, the victim Tashi Yangzom ended up a sitting duck for the assailants, despite travelling by a cycle rickshaw.

“According to the complainant, the incident took place around 4pm on Wednesday when she was heading towards the nearby Tibetan Colony Camp,” said a police officer.

Yangzom had visited the Akshardham Temple and then took a Metro train to Civil Lines station. From there, she boarded a cycle rickshaw till Tibetan Colony in Majnu Ka Tilla area.

She told police that she had kept her handbag on her lap and was talking on the phone when two men riding a bike slowed down parallel to her. “Even before she could take notice, the pillion rider grabbed her bag and the bike zoomed-off and disappeared in seconds. The bikers fled towards Delhi School of Social Work,” the officer said.

On February 3, Marie-Christine Mahmoud Tozzi, a France Embassy employee who was travelling in an auto rickshaw, was targeted in a similar way near the Italian Embassy in Chanakyapuri.

The next day, Fuki Toshimoto, a Japanese tourist, was targeted near the Tuglaq Road round-about on Aurangazeb Road by a biker.

On February 6, Adilia Martins Afonso from Lisbon was praying at the Church Centre near Gole Dak Khana when someone fled with her carry bag.
