The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today released a list of 23 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, taking the number of its contestants announced so far to 71.

The names were finalised at a meeting of the party's Central Election Committee held at the party headquarters under the chairmanship of its president Rajnath Singh.
Senior BJP leader L.K Advani also attended the meet, BJP general secretary Ananth Kumar told reporters here.
The list has four candidates from Uttarakhand, one each from Goa and Andaman and Nicobar Islands and 17 from West Bengal.
The contestants include two women, three Scheduled Castes (SC) and one Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates - all from West Bengal. The party has named its candidate for an SC seat in Uttarakhand.
The party also announced a candidate for a by-election for the Bishnupur West assembly seat in West Bengal.
