Expressing concern over China's move to build a metalled road in the heart of Himalayas and its reported plans to divert Brahmaputra River, the BJP ON Thursday asked the UPA government to take up these issues with China and sort them out immediately.

"The road to Everest is not an isolated incident, but part of a series of China's assertive actions across the border," BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar told reporters in the Capital.
Javdekar said the road to Everest base camp of Himalayas was not only "an ecological disaster" but is yet another attempt by China to "assert itself from across the border".
Recent instances of China denying visa to an Arunachal Pradesh government official stating they do not require visa as the area is considered part of China and reports of China's plans to divert Brahmaputra river are matters of serious ramification, Javadekar said.
"The settled principle of boundary dispute to be restricted to non-populated areas has also been challenged by the Foreign Minister of China, threatening the bilateral talks between the two countries," Javadekar said adding the BJP does not view these developments as isolated incidents.
