BJP not impressed with Krishna's comments on Pak

BJP today appeared unimpressed with external affairs minister S M Krishna's remarks that the trust deficit between India and Pakistan was shrinking, and claimed that the government was changing its stance towards the neighbouring country quite frequently.

"We do not have to react to what S M Krishna is saying. This (UPA) government keeps changing its stance towards Pakistan off and on. In Sharm-el-Sheikh they agreed to talk and then stopped talking again. Later, under some unknown pressure they started talking to each other again," BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said.

Hussain was responding to a question on Krishna's comments on way to the SAARC summit in Maldives. The minister had said India's relations with Pakistan had improved and the trust deficit between the two countries was shrinking.

BJP maintained that many people in India wanted the country to have good relations with Pakistan but only when certain conditions were fulfilled.

The main opposition has insisted that there should be no dialogue with Pakistan till it takes action against the culprits of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack and stops abetting terrorism from its soil.
