“The survey has revealed that our position in Delhi has improved substantially. We are hopeful that our performance will improve substantially compared to the Assembly elections,” said Malhotra at a press conference.

Asked what has changed since last December’s Assembly election, he said, “For one the United Progressive Alliance has disintegrated leaving the Congress a weak national party. This in itself is a big change.”

According to Malhotra, unlike the Assembly elections, the BSP factor would help the BJP more than the Congress in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

“The BSP will be a factor. It will eat into Congress votes,” he said.

Malhotra said in the last leg of the Lok Sabha polls, his party would highlight the unprecedented fee hike in unaided school as its main poll issue.

Meanwhile, a local Lok Janshakti Party leader, Suresh Chaudhary, and a Nationalist Congress Party leader, Jagdish Lohia, joined the BJP in support of the party’s south Delhi candidate Ramesh Bidhuri on Monday.
