The BJP on Friday attacked the Samajwadi Party (SP) for its 'U-turns' while at the same time congratulated the Trinamool Congress for withdrawing from the "sinking ship" of the UPA government at the Centre.

"The SP is opposing diesel price hike and cylinder rationing but supplying oxygen cylinder to this government. The nation is seeing it. They come on the streets pretending to be the Opposition and also support the UPA," BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said.
He rubbished Mulayam Singh Yadav's statement that communal forces would gain if the UPA government fell: "There is no communal tension in the nation except in SP-ruled UP, where riots are frequently taking place. This is their secularism."
However, JD-U chief and BJP ally Sharad Yadav seemed softer on the SP: "He was with us in the fight against the government's policies. His is a different party. We are trying to bring people together against the government's wrong policies."
