Indian rail, catering and tourism corporation (IRCTC), which sells 3.5 lakh rail tickets everyday through its website, www.irctc.co.in, will launch a new portal for providing air tickets online.

Starting next week, travellers can log on to air.irctc.co.in for air bookings.
“We won’t be levying service charge on tickets and our charges on cancellations would also be nominal,” said Pradip Kundu, PRO, IRCTC.
IRCTC has entered into an agreement with all full service and low-cost carriers for providing their tickets online.
“We’ll provide quick refund in case of cancellation and are also in touch with some banks to introduce cash back offers for those using their credit cards,” Kundu added.
There are around 1,50,000 airline seats available daily out of which around 40-50 per cent or 70,000-75,000 seats are sold online.
Initially, IRCTC is aiming 10 per cent of the market share.
