Apart from primary and secondary education, the Delhi government has also laid emphasis on higher education in Tuesday's budget.

The budget mentioned the success of the government's Ladli Scheme, which has ensured near total enrollment, and retention of girls in schools but their enrollment in technical institutions is still low.
So with an aim to encourage women to pursue higher education, the Delhi government has decided to upgrade its engineering institute, Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology, to Technical University for Women in the new fiscal.
The merit scholarship and merit-cum-means scholarship schemes for technical education degree and diploma students have also been modified from this year.
Merit scholarships will be provided all students securing 80% and above marks in place of 90% and above marks at present.
