Boy dies in school ground

A Class X student died mysteriously in his Vasant Kunj school on Thursday. Police and the school said the boy collapsed while playing but his family alleged that he had been beaten to death.

Ankush Kondal, 17, of Deep Public School, was admitted to Fortis Hospital around 12.30 pm in an unconscious state. “We got a call from the hospital around 1 pm that my son has been admitted there in a serious condition. When I reached there he had already been shifted to Safdarjung Hospital. No one from the school bothered to inform us. When we reached he was dead,” said Prakash Kondal, father of Ankush. He said his son had suffered head injury and also had injury marks on his chest and neck.

Police said they were waiting for the post-mortem report. “The boy collapsed while playing…,” said Shalini Singh, DCP (southwest). School director K.D. Singh said: “He complained of chest pain and collapsed in the playground.”
