The cold is set to return soon. Thunderstorms, rain showers and hailstorms that hit various parts of the city on Monday night indicated this clearly.

"The western disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir, which caused snowfall there, will lift by Tuesday and bring cold northerly winds back to the city," said SC Bhan, director, IMD.

The Capital saw high maximum and minimum temperatures the past week with Monday's maximum being 26.2ºCelsius, four degrees above normal and the minimum, 14.6ºC, seven degrees above normal.

"The unusually high temperatures were due to warm winds from the South. Since the disturbance has lifted, the direction of the winds will change, and temperatures will fall. But it won't get very cold," Bhan added.
