BSNL official arrested for graft

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today arrested a senior officer of state-run telephone service Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) in Rajasthan for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.40,000 from a subscriber for settling his bills, an official said.

Acting on the complaint, a CBI team laid a trap and caught General Manager Fateh Singh and another person, Radhay Shyam, "for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.40,000 from a complainant for clearing his pending bills", CBI spokesperson R.K. Gaur said.

The accused were brought to a court in Jaipur today and would remain in CBI custody till July 23, Gaur said.
