Bus fire: DTC suspects sabotage

The depot manager of the Keshopur bus depot has registered a case at the Najafgarh Police Station in this regard.

On Saturday, a low-floor bus caught fire around 10:15 pm. The whole bus was charred but no one was injured.

According to DTC officials, the bus was examined by DTC and Tata Motors engineers.

“After examining the vehicle, it was established that there was no technical glitch that could had started the fire,” said a senior DTC official on the condition of anonymity, as he is not authorised to speak to the media.

He said the reason behind the fire could not be established so far and suspected that it could be an act of mischief by some anti-social element while the bus was parked outside the terminal.

“Our bus has a large number of fuses as a safety measure to prevent damage to bus in case of short circuit. Secondly, the the battery circuit in the engine compartment has been found intact,” added the officer.
