A gang of armed robbers struck for the fourth time in over a month in the city on Friday.

The gang, comprising five-six men, entered Shiv Shanker Jindal’s house in Sector 3, Rajendra Nagar at 11 a.m. and held the family hostage at gunpoint for 30 minutes. The men escaped with cash, jewellery, electronic goods worth around Rs 30 lakh and an i-10 car, police officials said. Jindal owns a soap factory in Delhi.
“The robbers first took the Jindals’ maid hostage and then the driver. They then forced they way into the house and took Jindal’s son, daughter and wife hostage,” Superintendent of Police A.K. Vijeta said. The robbers were armed with country-made weapons and knives, police said.
The police claimed the robbers were locals and could be hiding in nearby villages. Sources claimed the Jindals’ loss could go up to Rs 50 lakh.
Senior Superintendent of Police Raghubir Lal, “The Delhi Police has also been informed. We have launched search operations in villages near the Air Force base at Hindon and will track them soon.”
