Giving a new twist to the cash-for-vote scam, Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh today claimed that a BSP worker demanded Rs five crore to change his version before a Parliamentary panel probing the matter.

Azmat Ali, described by Singh as a BSP worker, had gone to Singh's residence this morning and allegedly demanded the hefty amount for changing his statement he had given to the panel, the SP leader claimed at a press conference. MORE
Singh claimed that Ali came to his residence at around 8:30 am and said he could save the reputation of the SP leader by giving a favourable statement to the panel, which is probing the July 22 cash-for-vote scam that rocked Lok Sabha.
According to Singh, Ali was to depose before the panel this afternoon to give his version and the BSP leader demanded Rs five crore.
Ali was picked up for questioning by police from the residence of Singh.
