CBI charges Abhishek Verma in bribery case
The CBI has filed a chargesheet against alleged arms dealer Abhishek Verma, his wife Anca Neacsu, Switzerland based defence firm Rheinmetall Air Defence (RAD)and its former Indian representative Gerhard Hoy in an alleged bribery case. HT reports.
The CBI has filed a chargesheet against alleged arms dealer Abhishek Verma, his wife Anca Neacsu, Switzerland based defence firm Rheinmetall Air Defence (RAD)and its former Indian representative Gerhard Hoy in an alleged bribery case.
The CBI has alleged that RAD was recommended for blacklisting and the process was underway. Verma got in touch with RAD and assured them of stalling the blacklisting process. For this, he allegedly obtained gratification of $5,30,000 and the money was routed to India through a US-based firm.
The CBI had registered an FIR in the case on June 5, 2012. The chargesheet was filed in a CBI special court here. The CBI during its investigation had sent a court-approved request for assistance during probe (Letter Rogatory) to Switzerland and the US.
"Once CBI gets a reply to its LRs, a supplementary chargesheet would be filed," said a CBI spokesperson.
