CBI claims ‘sufficient proof’ against Talwars

The CBI counsels concluded their arguments in the hearing of the revision petition filed by Dr Nupur Talwar against a summons order in the Aarushi-Hemraj murder case.

The counsels said that the summons against Dr Nupur and Dr Rajesh Talwar was the result of a decision taken by a Ghaziabad court under its judicial powers.

"We also argued that there was sufficient evidence to initiate proceedings against the two accused," the counsels said.

At the proceedings in Allahabad high court, Talwars’ counsel Gopal Swaroop Chaturvedi said they will present their argument on Thursday.

"After our reply, it might take another week before a decision is arrived over the revision petition," Chaturvedi said.

In the revision petition, filed by Dr Nupur on February 21, she asked for further investigation into the murder case citing several points. In the petition, she also challenged the summons ordered by CBI's special judicial magistrate (SJM) against the Talwars in the double murder case.

In her, February 9 orders, the SJM Priti Singh exercised her judicial powers, and took cognisance of the CBI's final-report. Singh had ordered summons against the dentist couple under sections 302 (murder), 201 (destruction of evidence) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of Indian Penal Code in the twin-murder case.
