CBI is likely to send a reminder to the coal ministry for the submission of a detailed report on missing files related to the coal allocation scam probe for it to initiate appropriate inquiry, as demanded by the agency on September 2.

In its communication sent to the CBI on Monday, the coal ministry didn’t submit a list of the missing files, said a senior official. The communication only contained a status report of the files that are either available or can be accessed from other agencies and ministries.
“Our officials had a meeting with coal ministry officials today and they will meet again on Wednesday. We are in the process of taking physical possession of the available files,” said the official. “We will file a destruction of evidence case if the coal ministry sends to us a complaint in this regard or the Supreme Court directs us to lodge a case, since we cannot do it on our own,” said the source.
