The Centre would most likely not bring any fresh legislation for granting more autonomy to the CBI but make only “minor” changes in the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act.

The GoM on the subject also hopes to finalise in its next meeting on June 24 the affidavit for the Supreme Court which, while hearing a PIL on Coalgate, had directed the centre to spell out concrete measures for empowering the agency.

In its third meeting, the GoM on Thursday felt that “some gaps need to be filled” before finalising the draft affidavit.
