Celebrating New Delhi 100, HT way

The year 2011 saw New Delhi turning 100 years as the Capital of India. To commemorate this occasion, in January, the Hindustan Times had launched a special series called New Delhi 100, aimed at informing, celebrating and engaging Delhi residents with their shared history. HT reports .

The year 2011 saw New Delhi turning 100 years as the Capital of India. To commemorate this occasion, in January, the Hindustan Times had launched a special series called New Delhi 100, aimed at informing, celebrating and engaging Delhi residents with their shared history.

The editorial series chronicled watershed moments in the history of New Delhi. Through the past one year, we complemented the series with various activities such as painting competition, quiz, film festival, food festival etc.

We also identified iconic buildings and institutions that have come to define the Capital. We will be recognising their contribution and honouring them by presenting them special plaques. In fact, the first of these icons was the Rashtrapati Bhavan and our Editor-in-Chief Sanjoy Narayan presented a plaque to the honourable President of India as a token of our tribute.

To take forward this initiative and to document the views of eminent people who have a significant stake in the city as administrators, historians and cultural ambassadors, HT will be holding a conclave at Hotel Taj Palace on the topic “New Delhi: 100 years in the past and in future” today.
