The book-selling business in India is getting a new makeover with strategies now being chalked out at the breakfast table, similar to corporate round tables.

In a first-of-its-kind, the CEOs of the global publishing industry will brainstorm at ‘CEO Speak over Chairman’s Breakfast’ to tap the potential of the Indian market and discuss possibilities of joint venture, rights trading and India’s footprint abroad.

Conceptualised by National Book Trust (NBT) and FICCI, the breakfast will be hosted by the NBT chairman — organiser of New Delhi World Book Fair (NDWBF) on February 5.

The CEOs of publishing houses and associations from the UK, the US, France, Korea, India will be served breakfast at 9am along with business agenda.

The session will focus on how to make Indian publishing industry globally more competitive.

“With foreign publishers joining, there are opportunities for Indian publishers for global co-operation,” said A Didar Singh, FICCI secretary general.

Some of the global players attending the session are Harper Collins, Simon & Schuster, Wiley, Macmillan, Faber and Faber and Penguin.

“It will address the concerns of the book industry,” says Rahul Srivastava, director, Simon & Schuster India.
