After facing protests for the last three weeks from family members of its deceased employees, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has now formed a three-member committee to review applications for jobs on compensatory grounds that it had earlier rejected.

The DDA had last provided jobs on compensatory grounds to 882 people in 2010 but had recently rejected 576 new applications and approved only 84 applications.

Hundreds of applicants have been protesting this decision since March 18 outside the DDA's headquarters, Vikas Sadan.

"The committee was formed yesterday after a meeting at the lieutenant governor's office. The three-member committee will now review all the applications and deserving people will get jobs," said Sukhbir Sharma, chairman, Joint Action Committee of DDA Trade Unions and Engineers.

"We got a very good response from the L-G after a meeting on Thursday and a high level committee has been formed," said Neeraj Nirwal, an applicant.
