Congress has already constituted several committees headed by experienced leaders to focus on candidates and carrying campaigns ahead of the elections.

Besides appointing observers to prepare a list of considerable candidates for each constituencies, a central screening committee and separate panels for manifesto, publicity, publication and media management have been put in place.

The process of selecting candidates began on August five when DPCC-appointed observers gathered views of district-level committees for probable candidates for different seats and submitted it on August nine.

The meeting, which was attended by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, AIIC General Secretary in-charge Ashok Gehlot and DPCC president Jai Prakash Aggarwal, concentrated on discussing the best possible candidates, a senior Delhi Congress leader said.

The second round started from August 13 with appointments of four observers -- Ram Prakash, Harikesh Bahadur, Chandresh Kumari and Harish Rawat by the AICC.
