Cops connecting dots in abuse case, probe trafficking angle

The police on Thursday took the doctor couple, accused of locking up their minor maid at home and leaving for Thailand on holiday, to their Dwarka Sector 6 house to collect evidence and piece together the sequence of events. Faizan Haider reports.

The police on Thursday took the doctor couple, accused of locking up their minor maid at home and leaving for Thailand on holiday, to their Dwarka Sector 6 house to collect evidence and piece together the sequence of events.

In what could be a setback for the probe, the police did not recover any CCTV camera from the house. The police claimed that the couple had told the girl that they had installed CCTVs in the house to keep an eye on her. Police, however, said they collected scientific evidence from the house.

The police are are now focusing on the trafficking angle in the case and have found that the girl changed three hands before she was sold to a placement agency in Delhi's Punjabi Bagh.

"The girl said in her statement that her mother had sent her with one Narayan Sahu who further handed over her to Mahadev who in turn brought her to Delhi and handed her over to Mukesh, who runs a placement agency. We have also identified one Durga, who is also part of this chain. Various teams have been formed and sent to villages in Jharkhand to nab them. A separate team is in Gumla in Jharkhand to bring the mother of the girl to Delhi," a senior police officer said.

The police has taken photographs at the couple’s Hahnemann Apartment house in Sector 6, Dwarka.
