With US President Barack Obama’s visit right around the corner, the Delhi Police are leaving nothing to chance.

Continuing with their drive, started before the Commonwealth Games, to nab proclaimed offenders, the Delhi Police have nabbed more than 100 such offenders who were likely to create problems in the Capital during his visit.

The police are also making efforts to crackdown on snatchers in the city.

"We are trying to nab all proclaimed offenders who are likely to create nuisance in the city. Since the Games, we have arrested hundreds of criminals from the Delhi and neighbouring areas. Patrolling on the streets has also increased to prevent any street crime. We have also managed to reduce the number of crimes such as snatching and robbery," said
a senior police officer, requesting anonymity as he was not authorised to speak to the media.

"We are also cracking down on organised gangs,” the police officer added.
The police have also rounded up known bad characters with criminal records from various areas.
The police said they were also looking into the security of the US President and reviewing their security detail.

Thanks to the ongoing drive, the number of street crimes has gone down. Cases of snatching, the biggest street crime in the Capital, have gone down by 19.61%.
