Navi Mohammed (40) was arrested for conducting one such operation on 23-year-old Nadeem Mohammed, a resident of Modi Nagar, who became a victim to the rivalry between two eunuch groups.

“He injected something in my backbone which had an effect of numbness. Later, when I went unconscious, he performed the operation over my private parts,” said Nadeem Mohammed.

Aggrieved by the incident, Nadeem’s mother Salma filed a first information report (FIR) against the accused on February 12 at the Modi Nagar police station. The police had been looking for him since then and finally managed to arrest him on Wednesday.

The arrested quack said he was into the business for around 12 years and also claimed to have performed around 50 such surgeries with each fetching him between Rs 10,000 to Rs 30,000.

“These people are brought to me by eunuch groups operating in Ghaziabad and Noida areas. Some, mostly belonging economically weaker section, come on their own while others are brought forcibly by various eunuch groups,” the quack revealed.

The police said the quack also operated a clinic at Modi Nagar area of Ghaziabad where he undertook such ‘surgeries.’

“He was arrested for a similar crime around three years back from Gannaur area of Sonipat district in Haryana,” superintendent of police Ajay Kumar said, adding, “He has no qualifications and performed these operations in a very crude manner.”

Even though the quack claimed and accepted that he has conducted around 50 such operations over victims in the age-group of 20-25 years, police officials failed to connect them to the victims.

“We will investigate about his crime at the earliest and would identify the victims,” Kumar said.

The accused and his other accomplice were booked for attempt to murder.
