Professional social work is an internationally recognised profession, responding to complex and intricate issues related to human needs, social problems, social justice and human rights.

The curriculum of the course draws lessons from different disciplines of social sciences and natural sciences like sociology, psychology, economics, law, management, health and psychiatry.

The course has got Delhi University's approval for semester system.

If you want to be an agent of change and are ready to work hard for it, this is a right course for you.

The admission is through a written test followed by an interview. In Delhi University, this course is available at Aditi Mahavidyalaya and Bhim Rao Ambedkar College.

"We have our theory and practical classes simultaneously. There is a lot of fieldwork involved that makes our course interesting. We work with rehabilitation centres, NGOs as well as asylums," said Parul Sharma, third-year student of BR Ambedkar College.

The course produces manpower that believes in social justice and is willing to make the change. After graduation students can opt for a job or can go for a Master's degree.

"People who think well, write well and are ready to engage themselves with deprived sections of society can make a really good career for themselves," said Pamela Singhla, Associate Professor of Social Work at University of Delhi.
