Court stays civic panel

A high-level panel to study health hazard posed by mobile phone towers is off for the time being. A larger bench of the Delhi High Court on Friday stayed a single judge’s May 31 order asking the MCD and telecom ministry to constitute it.

Admitting MCD’s appeal, Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justice M.B. Lokur said, “Constitution of a committee directed by the single judge is stayed till August 8, the next date of hearing.”

The judges also modified an order that asked operators to pay Rs 2 lakh as an interim step.
