The CPI(M) leadership has come under criticism as the party central committee, the highest decision-making body of the party, took stock of the organisational matters.

After the three-day post-mortem of the party organisational functions, concluded on Friday, many members also cautioned the leadership about seeking cooperation of the secular parties that have ditched them too often to side with the ruling Congress party.
The leadership has come under criticism for failing to expand the party into new areas especially in UP and Bihar. The shortcomings of the leaders “at all levels” in “building movements”, their “lack of ideological outlook”, and their failure to bring in cadres have hampered the organisational work of the party, sources said.
“There are clear shortcomings on the part of the leadership, including the state level...”, said a committee member.
