The crime branch of Delhi Police have arrested a criminal who is wanted in connection with the kidnapping of a child for ransom in Indirapuram. The criminal has been identified as Sumit, 22, and is a resident of Ghaziabad.
On September 29, Sumit along with his associates had kidnapped the four-year-old child when he was going home from school with his grandmother.
They had demanded a huge ransom amount from the victim's family for his release. A case of kidnapping cum ransom was registered at the Indirapuram police station, police said.
"The UP police had successfully released the child from the kidnappers. Except for Sumit, all other accused in the case had been arrested. According to Chand, Sumit was arrested following information about his arrival near the Mayur Vihar metro station.
