Six people, including a six-year-old girl, died in separate incidents during Dussehra celebrations in the Capital on Thursday.

In first such incident, an 18-year-old boy died when an iron rod went through his body after he fell from a water tank.

He had climbed the tank to watch Ramlila celebrations. The incident was reported from outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri P-Block on Thursday night and the deceased has been identified as Pawan.

The police said that Pawan had climbed a water tank on the rooftop of a government school to watch Ramlila celebrations. While coming down, he came in contact with an electric wire and fell down. “He fell on an iron rod installed on a wall to support barbed wire. The rod went through his body,” said a senior police official.

The police said that they were awaiting the post mortem report to ascertain whether he suffered a shock when he came in contact with the electric wire.

A couple of hours before this incident, a six-year-old Class I, Bhavya Gupta, died after a wooden log, meant to support effigy of Kumbhakaran at Ramlila Maidan, fell on her head. Bhavya died during treatment at LNJP Hospital. A case of negligence has been registered against the organisers.

In yet another incident, four youths drowned in Wazirabad while immersing idols of Goddess Durga.
