DDA seeks tech expert’s help

The team was constituted following Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy's directive after allegations of a housing scam surfaced. The team has said that they would need a software expert's assistance to tell them whether the software used in the draw of lots was tampered with. The DDA has subsequently written to National Informatics Centre to depute a software engineer.

The three-member team headed by DDA finance member Nand Lal to inquire into the whole process of allotment of flats and alleged irregularity is expected to submit its report by January 24. Besides Lal, the other committee members include B.K.
Gupta, deputy legal advisor, and Alok Swarup, director, vigilance.

The mandate of the probe team is to check whether DDA followed all laid down procedures for holding the lottery. “They will also go through applications selected for the lottery to see whether there was any irregularity in the application form submitted to the agency,” said a senior DDA official.

Allegations have been levelled against the DDA that a cartel of builders had forged documents and availed bank loans to get flats under the reserved category.
