The standing committee chairman of the North Delhi municipal corporation, Ram Kishan Singhal, on Monday visited the under-construction waste to energy plant at Narela Bawana and issued an August deadline for the project.

The plant, which will generate 25MW electricity, is a model for the way forward as all the landfill sites of the capital have long exhausted their capacity.
Singhal, while inspecting progress of the plant at Narela-Bawana Sanitary Landfill Site, directed the concessionaire to complete the project by August, though the company wanted to complete it in October.
"They should start producing electricity from August and progress is required accordingly. Every 15 days checking will be done to take stock of the progress," Singhal said.
He was accompanied by Leader of the House Mahender Nagpal and corporators during the visit.
