Minister of State for Corporate Affairs RPN Singh in a written reply also informed the Lok Sabha that information technology companies (IT) registered in India have recorded a profit of Rs 12,360.71 crore in 2009-2010.

The profit in 2009-2010 was 52.11 per cent up from Rs Rs 8,126.00 crore in the previous fiscal. The increase shows that IT companies, which were hit by the financial meltdown, are probably back on track now.

Delhi had 11,740 IT companies, followed by Maharashtra (11,080), Andhra Pradesh (9,582), Tamil Nadu (7,074) and Karnataka (6,830).

States which are at the the bottom list are were Mizoram which had just one registered IT company, Andaman and Nicobar (2), Dadara and Nagar Haveli (3), and Daman and Diu (4).
