Delhi Police is strengthening security at shopping malls across the city after an e-mail threatening to blow up a shopping mall in the national capital by deploying more personnel and conducting extensive searches.

The police had already stepped up security across the city following Wednesday's blast outside the Delhi High Court.
Further strengthening of the security apparatus was done during the day after union home ministry asked Delhi police to take appropriate measures following the email which talked about a possible blast in a shopping mall next week.
A senior police official said the force is on high alert and they had intensified patrolling and checkings across the city, including shopping malls, markets and other crowded
places.
“We are deploying people. We have also asked shopping mall operators to step up their security system. More checkings will be done,” the official said.
The shopping mall operators are being periodically briefed about the security arrangements they should make, he said.
Police have also intensified checkings at border points of the national capital.
