The lawyers of Delhi district courts will observe a day-long strike on Thursday to press their demand for transfer of property cases from the Delhi high court to district courts, the Delhi Bar Association said on Wednesday.

The lawyers' strike will paralyse the working of the six district courts at Patiala House, Karkardooma, Tis Hazari, Saket, Dwarka and Rohini.
Rajiv Khosla, spokesperson of the district courts bar association coordination committee, said that the lawyers have decided to abstain from work to draw the attention of the government, state as well as union, to the plight of the litigants.
"The coordination committee is of the strong view that speedy justice can only be available to the litigants if the trial of original side cases is conducted only at district courts," he said.
At present, all property disputes up to the value of Rs 20 lakh are dealt with by the district courts and those exceeding that amount are taken up by the high court.
