Delhi sizzles at 43.6 degrees Celsius

The minimum temperature settled at 29.2 degrees Celsius.

According to Met officials, the sweltering summer is likely to stay for some more days following the delay in monsoon.

The monsoon has been delayed by 10 days and will now hit the capital July 1.

The Met officials have forecast that the maximum temperature will hover around 45 degrees Celsius Tuesday while the minimum will be around 30 degrees Celsius.

"A heat wave condition prevails over Delhi following the westerly winds blowing from Rajasthan. The day temperatures have increased several degrees in the national capital," an official at the Safdarjung meteorological department office told IANS.

The heat wave along with power and water shortage in the capital has made life miserable for the residents of Delhi.

Annie Rahman, an outstation student from the Northeast, said: "I returned from vacation Sunday and found no water and power in the house. I have to order distilled water for use in the kitchen, washroom and for the cooler."
