Delhi: two South Africans held with drugs worth Rs 1 crore at IGAI airport

The CISF apprehended two South African nationals — Bulayi Nthabiseng Josephin, 42, and Mkhaliphe Grace Bongiw, 41 — and recovered 78kg of pseudoephedrine drug worth Rs 1 crore in international market.

They were later handed over to Narcotics Control Bureau which started further investigation after registering a case against them.

According to a CISF statement, Josephin — who was to travel to Nairobi by flight by Kenyan Airlines — had reached Gate No 5 of Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport when she was stopped.

"Her activities appeared suspicious. On profiling, she was selected for a thorough screening and checking of her baggage during which we found 41kg of pseudoephedrine drug," a CISF official said.

On further enquiry, said the official, she revealed that another another South African National, Bongiw, was also with her and both of them had come to India on July 16 on tourist visa. Bongiw was also apprehended and 37 kg of the same drug was found in her bag.
